Funeral services for Jeanie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Rev. Wendy Christianson officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Jeanie Lorraine Weatherly was born on March 14, 1945, north of Conrad, the daughter of LeRoy and Vivian Evelyn (McIntyre) Weatherly. She was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District, where she graduated with the class of 1963.

Following high school, Jeanie was united in marriage to the love of her life, John Schroyer on July 19, 1964, at the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. From this union two children were born, Jeff and Jill.

Jeanie was a very dedicated woman in all that she did, including the 28 years she spent at Fisher Controls in the Marketing and Education Center. She retired from there in April of 2000. Jeanie was a proud member of the Bar None Cowboy Church and the Laurel United Methodist Church, as well as the Laurel Community Library, where she served as Secretary and President of the board. She was also the Treasurer of the Laurel Leisure Home board and taught preschool in Laurel.

Jeanie had a passion for gardening, reading, flowers, making crafts, crocheting, spending time with friends, but her absolute favorite thing was when family and friends would be gathered around the table playing many different card games.

Left to cherish Jeanie’s memory is her loving husband, John Schroyer, of Laurel, IA; children, Jeff (Leanna Benson) Schroyer, of Elkhorn, NE and Jill Holm, of Grimes, IA; grandchildren: Josh (Bree) Schroyer and Jonathon (Courtney Plaskitt) Schroyer, both of Marshalltown, IA, Sara (Tom Bates) Holm, of New York City and Randy Holm, of Grimes, IA; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Vivian Weatherly; two brothers, Gordon and Bob Weatherly; her mother-in-law, Blanch Schroyer Riemenschneider; father-in-law, Melvin Schroyer; brother-in-law, Ray Miller and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
