Richard was born April 5, 1952, to Wendell and Ethel Newby of Eldora. He grew up in Eldora and he graduated from Eldora High School in 1970.

After graduation Richard entered the Air Force and served in Vietnam. He was a proud veteran. He married Vickie (Krull) on September 28, 1974, in Wellsburg. The couple had one daughter, Christa.

Richard worked at United Suppliers in Eldora for 26 years until 2001. The family then moved to Bradenton, FL where he worked for the Manatee County Water Department for 10 years, until he retired in 2015. During his free time, Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his yard.

Richard’s survivors include his wife, Vickie; daughter, Christa (Charles) Rogalla, Bradenton, FL; brothers, Roy (Sharon), of Plainfield, IN, and Larry (Mary), of Louisville, KY; sister, Sharon Newby, Louisville, KY; and brother-in-law Rick (Teresa) Krull, Ackley.

His parents preceded him in death.
