Edgar A. Boehm Jr., 79

Edgar A. Boehm Jr., 79, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Thursday morning, October 10, 2019, at the Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. Following cremation rites, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, October 14th at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Private burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa River Hospice.

Edgar was born on May 7, 1940, in Lake Forest, IL, the son of Edgar, Sr. and Maybelle (Hawkins) Boehm. The family later moved to Three Lakes, WI where he graduated from high school. He attended St. Norbert College and received his Bachelor Degree. He later achieved his Master Degree from Iowa State University. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force as an air flight mechanic. During his service time in Germany, he met the love of his life, Ingrid Larson. They were married on September 29, 1966. The couple moved back to the United States where Edgar worked as a small engine instructor in Three Lakes, WI, Ironwood, MI and Emmetsburg, IA. In 1983, Edgar and his family moved to Marshalltown. He taught auto mechanics at the Marshalltown High School and Marshalltown Community College. He then went on to be an engineering instructor at Emerson where he eventually retired. He loved aviation and remote-controlled airplanes as well as astronomy. Edgar was a member of the Marshalltown R/C Flyers Club, the Marshalltown Astronomy Club and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was also very fond of history and British automobiles.

Surviving are his sons, Mark (Jocelyn) Boehm and Glen Boehm; his grandchildren: Logan (Alicia), Colton and Hailey; nine brothers and sisters: Bill (Kay) Boehm, Adel (Doss) Mabe, Roger (Annie) Boehm, Rick (Holly) Boehm, Deborah (Oscar Daley) Boehm, Sandy (Tariq) Osman, Peg (Rick) Caiati, Rebecca (David) Shaffer and Bob (Sarah) Boehm and many nieces and nephews.

In eternal life, Edgar has been reunited with his parents and his wife.
