Owen E. Conley, 93

Owen E. Conley, 93, of Marshalltown, passed away Thursday morning, October 10, 2019, at Glenwood Place in Marshalltown while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 18th at St. Francis of Assisi – St. Henry’s Church in Marshalltown. Entombment with military honors will follow at the Riverside Cemetery Mausoleum. Cremation rites have been given and no public visitation is planned. Memorials may be directed to honorflight.org or the Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive Program. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Owen’s family.

Born on March 6, 1926, in Tyrone, IA, Owen was the son of Owen and Margaret (Hynd) Conley. He attended school in Albia, IA and at the age of 17, he convinced his parents to allow him to enlist in the U.S. Navy where he faithfully served as a dental assistant and earned an honorable discharge. On June 4, 1949, Owen was united in marriage to Delores Minnehan. The couple lived in several towns across Iowa as Owen worked for the railroad. They moved to Marshalltown in 1957 and in 1958, Owen started Conley Dental Laboratory. He operated his business for 30 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Henry’s Church and was very active in the Knights of Columbus, attaining status of 4thDegree Knight.

Surviving are his two daughters, Marguerite (Jeff) Edelnant and Cecelia Conley; his daughters-in-law, Lynne Sutherland and Lisa Conley his grandchildren: Jillian (Jason) Roamer, Vanessa Conley, Josh (Amanda) Conley, Nate Sutherland, Owen Conley, Ruth Conley, Topaz Conley, Jeff (Glee) Reynolds and Jacque Osgood; his great grandchildren: Mya Conley, Cydney Reynolds, Jace Reynolds and Zachary Osgood; his sister, Kathryn Lake and two brothers, Pat (Marilyn) Conley and Alec Conley and several nieces and nephews.

In eternal life, Owen has been reunited with his parents, his wife, his sons, Gregory and Matthew Conley and several brothers and sisters.
