Florene Wilson was born on October 20, 1927, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Jess Wilson and Neta (Taylor) Wilson. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1945 and attended Oklahoma State University. On August 4, 1946, Flo was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Scheffert in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Flo has been a very involved member of the Marshalltown community, volunteering for several organizations such as Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. She has been an active member of First Baptist Church (Journey Church) since August 1946 as well as the American Baptist Women. She served the American Red Cross for over twenty-five years and held multiple positions as a member of P.E.O. Chapter BB.

Most would describe Flo as loving, caring, generous and gracious. For those who knew Flo really well, they may have experienced some of her fun-loving pranks such as short sheeting your bed or showing up on your doorstep in full costume on trick-or-treat night (yes, in recent years). It wasn’t always fun and gamesÃ- except, when she was cheating at card games, wrapping presents for herself to open at Christmas or playing football in full pads with her grandson and over 30 years later playing football with NO pads with her great grandson, which ended with some minor injuries. “Mercy me” she would say, and just laugh. All the while, some way some how she always managed to look perfectly put together. Most importantly, Flo had an everlasting love for Christ – truly a great example of a Christian woman.

Flo’s contagious energy and infectious laugh will be missed the most.

Flo is survived by her husband of 73 years, Bob Scheffert; daughter Cathy (Scheffert) Beaumont; grandson Lue Beaumont (Erin); great grandchildren Gavin and Blythe Beaumont and cherished family by grandson Lue’s marriage; Kirstan, Rick, Callie, Clayton, Barb, Alix and Sydnee Condit.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jess Wilson and Neta (Taylor) Wilson and sister Lynne (Wilson) Mandel.

Starting at $4.38/week.
