Darlene L. Eggers, 84, of Gladbrook, IA, passed away after a short illness Thursday, February 20, 2020, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, IA. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, with Rev. Robert Doner officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., until the time of the services, at the church. Interment will be in Badger Hill Cemetery in rural Gladbrook. Darlene L. Dinsdale was born July 23, 1935, to Lester and Virginia (Havens) Dinsdale in Tama County, IA. She graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1953. Darlene was united in marriage to Allen Eggers of Gladbrook on June 7, 1959. They had two children, Ricky and Pamela. In November of 1967, they purchased Moeller Produce and changed the name to Eggers Feed. She was employed at the Dinsdale Elevator working for the A.S.C. office in Tama County weighing grain and was later hired by Moeller and Walter as bookkeeper where she worked afternoons for five years. Darlene worked for her uncle, Edwin Dinsdale, with his seed corn business in Traer. He then built the bowling alley known as The Silver Streak Bowling Lanes and Darlene worked there evenings. Darlene was an active supporter of the Gladbrook Corn Carnival for many years. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends in the mornings.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Allen; a daughter Pamela (Marty) Lewis of Austin, TX; one sister, Leah (Glenn) Tollefson of Huntington Beach, CA; three brothers, Jim (LaNell) Dinsdale of Traer, IA, David (Diane) Dinsdale of New Hartford, IA, Larry (Lavilah) Dinsdale of Reinbeck, IA; grandchildren Shantel (Jarret) Porterfield of Wimberley, TX, and Brent (Daniela)Lewis of Austin, TX; and two great grandchildren, Forrest and June Porterfield. Darlene was preceded in death by her son, Ricky, and sister Shirley.
