Ernestine “Da bo we” Keahna, 82, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020, after a lengthy illness at her home on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. She was under the care of Hospice Compassus. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement with Luke Kapayou as speaker. A Traditional Wake was held Wednesday evening, February 19, 2020, at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement.
Survivors include six children: Craig (Mai) Young Bear, Mary Young Bear, Nina Young Bear, Kristina (Tom) Young Bear, Chad Keahna and Douglas Cadotte; one brother, Leighton Roberts Sr.; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
