Hollis Louise was born on February 16, 1928, in Marshalltown, IA, the daughter of Eldah and Thelma (Buchwald) Bryant. She grew up outside of Clemons and graduated from the Clemons High School. Holly assisted in the WWII effort working at Scott’s Tent and Awning in Marshalltown. She’d also worked as the bookkeeper for the Clemons Creamery. She was united in marriage to Donald Fisher on March 26, 1947. The couple farmed in the St. Anthony area where Holly and Don raised their family. Holly helped manage the farm operation and also earned her local reputation as a fantastic cook and pie maker.

Holly was musically inclined, a trail-blazing sousaphone player in her high school marching band and self-taught on the piano. She was the pianist for the St. Anthony Christian Church for over four decades before its closing. She had also been the part-time pianist for the Clemons United Church of Christ. She and her three younger sisters formed the singing quartet, “The Bryant Sisters” during their high school years and over the next six decades performed and entertained at countless weddings, funerals, nursing homes and celebratory events. Their practice sessions filled their homes with harmonies, infectious laughter, coffee and desserts. Holly’s love of music and harmonies was one of the many gifts she passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her six children: Ronald (Pam) Fisher, Harpers Ferry, IA; Diana Fisher, Pilot Mound, IA; Jo Kassel, Boone IA; John Fisher, St. Anthony, IA; Larry Fisher, Clemons, IA, and Mike (Amy) Fisher, West Des Moines, IA; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three sisters: Violet Collins, Hubbard, IA; Betty Brush, State Center, IA; Delores Reece, Marshalltown, IA; her brother, Donald Bryant, Marshalltown, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
