Gary Howard Dvorak, 69

Gary Howard Dvorak, 69, of Marshalltown, died March 27, 2020, in the comfort of his home. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Gary was born to Howard and Betty (Schedin) Dvorak on February 24th, 1951 in Hopkins, Minnesota, the eldest of 3 children, who all later moved to Iowa City. He graduated from Grinnell Senior High in 1970, and served our country in the Navy and later was honorably discharged. He then enrolled at Marshalltown Community College and earned a degree in machine trades, after which he began a 38-year career at Fisher Controls as a CNC machine programmer and started a long lasting friendship with many fellow employees. He retired in 2013. Hunting geese, ducks and deer with his buddies was a passion of his, along with and including his bow hunting trips. Many a trip to South Dakota, Wyoming and Utah were made as well his hunts in Iowa. Gary was an avid Harley Davidson fan, enjoying his many trips on his bike, especially the rides with his brother in New Mexico exploring the sites. Gary will be missed by many friends and family who always enjoyed his company and looked forward to seeing his smiling face and hearty laugh.

Gary was married to Joyce Buck for 20 years. He maintained a meaningful relationship with her children and their families: Jeff (Kris) Henze, Chris (Jamie) Henze and Jodi (Nate) Hendricks. He is also survived by a brother Mike (Deb) Dvorak from Ruidoso, NM, sister Diane (Garold) Nelson from Grinnell, Ia and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
