David Michael Cox was born February 26, 1945, to parents Raymond and Emily (McCreary) Cox in Bellingham, Washington. At a couple years old, Dave and his family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. He attended school in Le Grand, Iowa and graduated from Le Grand High School in the class of 1963.

Following high school, Dave was drafted to the United States Army where he served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge from service, Dave called Marshalltown home once more.

In 1971, Dave was united in marriage to Barbara Kroener. The two began a family together. Dave supported his family by working for McAninch as a heavy machinery operator. Later in life Dave found his new life companion and best friend Nancy Moon. Dave was an active member in his work and social community being a member of the Operator Engineers Union 234 out of Des Moines, Iowa, Garwin American Legion, Garwin Legion Riders and the Marshalltown V.F.W.

To describe Dave, he enjoyed anything fun and fast. He enjoyed driving fast cars, his joker bike which was his pride and joy and Chevrolets. He loved NASCAR and cheering on Dale Earhart during the races. Dave was a big John Wayne western movie fan and liked his lucky strike unfiltered cigarettes. He loved being in the yard working with a chainsaw to chop down trees to make firewood. Dave was a fan of old cars even working on a restoration of an old Chevrolet. He did not have a chance to finish it the way that he would’ve wanted it to but he was able to take it out for a drive which ended pretty fast. He said, “it wouldn’t go fast enough.” Dave was a great friend that will be missed by all.

Left to remember and cherish his memory is his life companion, Nancy Moon; his daughter Brenda (Todd) Fails; his step children Sandy (Mike) Rhodes, Vicki Michel and Jim (Keli) Michel; his grandchildren: David Ray Cox, Trevor Cullor, Koltyn Beckham, Trent Krough, Mark Krough, Kippen Glenney, Blake Siemans, and numerous other grandchildren; his great grandson Liam Cullor; cousin Lee Cox and friend John Wolf; his nephew, Brian Cox and his niece, Danette Cox.
