Donna Papenberg, 81

Donna Papenberg, 81, of Hampton, formerly of State Center and Dillon, passed away early Sunday morning, May 3rd, at her home in the loving care of her family and MercyOne Hospice of Mason City.

Graveside services for Donna will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Cemetery of Dillon. We remind people, it is still appropriate to use masks in attendance as well as the practice of social distancing. If there is a health concern, we would encourage you to keep the family in prayers and simply stay home. Memorials may be directed to the Orphan Grain Train.

Born Donna Brucklacher on April 2nd, 1939, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Ernest and Helen (Haynes) Brucklacher. She graduated from the Dunbar High School in 1957 as class Valedictorian.

On March 3rd, 1962, she was united in marriage to Charles Knights. The young couple made their home with his parents on the farm. After his passing, she married Ron Papenberg and the couple called State Center home. Mrs. Papenberg was a member of St. John Lutheran at State Center and a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran of Dillon.

Donna attended AIB in Des Moines following graduation with an accounting course. She was employed at Fidelity Bank in Marshalltown. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and traveling.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Frank Knights (Cindy Gerke), of State Center and children Lindsay, Jared and Rachel; Karen (Matt) Koenig, of Hampton and daughter Francesca; Daniel (Darcy) Knights, of Waverly and children Cameron and McKenna and Russell Knights, of Grinnell with children Jevan and Jarrett. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren.

In death, she rejoined her parents and husbands.
