Dorothy Syhlman was born on September 23, 1933, in Stout, IA to Verb and Edna (Bolhuis) Syhlman. She attended elementary school in Shell Rock and graduated from Aplington high school. Dorothy was united in marriage to Jake Adelmund. She was employed over 30 years cleaning homes. Dorothy was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and doing word finds. She loved spending time with family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her sons: Kendall (Melody) Adelmund, of Wellsburg and Randy Adelmund, of Conrad; her siblings: Wilma (George) Adelmund, of Gladbrook and Lourine (Marlyn) Pruis, of Grundy Center; two grandchildren, four step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Jake; her parents: Verb and Edna; and siblings: Tena Benning, Fred Syhlman and Vernice (Melvin) Valentine.
