Joyce Mae “A ni bi di” Kapayou, 84, of Tama, passed away Friday, May 22, 2020, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A Traditional Graveside Service was held Sunday, May 24, 2020, at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Luke Kapayou as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Saturday evening, May 23, 2020, at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the settlement.
Survivors include sons: Scott Youngbear, Owen (Sandra) Kapayou, Cameron Kapayou, Dale Black Cloud and Leland Morgan all of Tama; daughters: Gina Kapayou, of Tama, Roni Kapayou, and Dixie Kapayou, both of Toledo; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings: Allen Youngbear, of Cody, Wyoming, Irving (Tressa) Youngbear, Beatrice Youngbear and Gerald Youngbear, all of Tama.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
