Marvin F. Dworzak, 84

Marvin Frank Dworzak, 84, of Westminster, CA, passed away at home on April 24.

Marvin was born in Marshalltown, IA to Frank Joseph and Anne Elizabeth (Blaschke) Dworzak on January 29, 1936. He attended elementary and high school at St. Mary’s School, graduating in 1953. He went on to earn a business degree at the University of Iowa in 1957. After college, Marvin attended the US Navy’s Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI, graduating and serving four years active duty on the USS Gregory in the Pacific. He continued to serve as a Naval Reservist for 16 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He worked at IBM as a Systems Engineer for 30 years (1961-1991) following active duty. In retirement, he returned to school and became a Radiology Technician, working in this field for several years.

Marvin enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing, taking numerous fishing trips to the Eastern Sierra, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Mexico and frequently traveled back home to Iowa and South Dakota to hunt pheasants. He always enjoyed coming back to Marshalltown to see friends at class reunions. His favorite social activity was the Long Beach Casting Club which he joined in 1996 and served as its president from 2004-2005.

Marvin is survived by his daughter Jody Dworzak, of Oakland, CA and his son John (Cynthia) Dworzak, of Long Beach, CA. Also, sisters Mary (Paul) Vieltorf, of Akron, OH, Betty (Mike) Donovan, of Louisville, KY, and brothers James Dworzak, of Marshalltown, IA and David Dworzak, of West Chester, PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Flannery Dworzak.
