Born Rose Emma Schoborg on June 3rd, 1920, in Haverhill, she was the daughter and one of seven children born to Vincent and Florence (Hoffman) Schoborg. She received her education in the St. Joseph Parochial School in Haverhill.

On February 8th, 1938, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Joseph Charles Stalzer. The couple made Haverhill their home all of their married lives and was blessed with seven children.

Rose was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception in Haverhill and was active in St. Monica’s Society at Immaculate Conception as well as ACCW at St. Henry’s. She left her family a legacy with quilts – making them for every one of her family members, as well as baby blankets for their children. She was a great cook and had a specialty — chocolate cake with caramel filling that always cured a sweet tooth. Being a farmwife, she loved the outdoors and planting flowers and her garden in the springtime. She worked for White Brothers Greenhouses in Marshalltown managing the retail section and made dinner and supper for the employees. Rose volunteered at the Knights of Columbus and for bingo at IVH. Her greatest joys though were events with her family.

Left to cherish her memory is her children: Betty (Ed) Stanton, of Haverhill, Gayle (Nancy) Stalzer, of State Center, Cyril Stalzer, of Laurel, and Rosemary (Jeffrey) Chapman, of Haverhill; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Connie Schoborg and brother-in-law Tony Stalzer, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

In death, Rose rejoined her beloved Joe who passed away on February 8th, 2006; her parents, children David, Roger and Patty (the late Larry) Bartlett; daughter-in-law Sharion Stalzer and siblings (of which she was the last of): Herman and Ray Schoborg, Frances Stalzer, Rita White, Mary Kopel and most recently Vivian Stalzer in November of last year.

Starting at $4.38/week.
