Rosemary Stansberry, 66

Rosemary Stansberry, 66, of Marshalltown, passed away the evening of Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from complications after a courageous battle of cancer. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 12th at 10:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. A visitation will take place Monday, May 11th from 5-7 PM at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Because a visitation is considered a social gathering, we will have to follow the guidelines of no more than 10 people gathered at a time and will accommodate this by rotating people as they come. We encourage individuals to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Franklin Elementary School. Rosemary was born March 9th, 1954, in Aurora, IL to parents William and Patricia (Kennehan) Stansberry. She grew up in Marshalltown, graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1973. She went on to receive her certificate in childcare from DMACC in Ankeny in 1974. She worked for two years as the director of the Y-Tots program at the YWCA before operating Berry Patch Preschool. Following that, she worked at MACS Day Care and then Wolf Creek Day Care in Conrad. Rosemary then worked for the Marshalltown School District at Hoglan Elementary and then most recently at Franklin Elementary. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church.

Rosemary always loved children. She dedicated her entire 47 year career to shaping young minds to have a joy of learning, especially reading. She made a huge impact on many hearts, minds and lives throughout her whole life.

Left to cherish Rosemary’s memory are her siblings: Margaret “Peggy” (Peter) Van Lanker, Jim (Connie) Stansberry, Don Stansberry, Cathy Lamb; Ann Kennehan (Dave) Saylor; nieces and nephews: Ben (Laura) Stansberry and family, Patrick Stansberry, Rebecca (Garrett) Caryl and family, and Danielle (Nathan) Krasnosky and family.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Patricia Stansberry.
