Mary Jane Myers was born October 29, 1958, in Des Moines, IA to parents Lawrence and Regina (McCann) Myers. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1977. Mary married the love of her life, Richard Park under a magnolia tree in her parent’s backyard in Mount Vernon, WA on July 10, 1982. She was a dedicated stay-at-home mom for 14 years and then devoted 20 years to working for both the West Marshall School District and the UAW local 893.

Mary enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and loved them to pieces. She was very passionate about taking care of people and often that was through food. She loved hosting BBQs and going on picnics. Their Mothers’ Day tradition included a picnic to the Ledges, so long as the weather cooperated. She absolutely loved being outdoors. Mary was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed watching football and March Madness. She and her dad, Larry, who passed away just 4 days before Mary, were big Cardinals fans. In addition to working at the UAW, she often volunteered to help there with different events like the annual Easter egg hunt, the bi-annual picnics and parades. Mary was also very civic-minded. She was excellent at completing crossword puzzles.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Richard; her two children: Dan (Christy Hawthorn) Park, of Manhattan, KS and Michelle (Andrew) Smith, of Clemons; her siblings: Alan (Christine) Myers, of Friday Harbor, WA, Ed (Jeneanne) Myers, of Bellingham, WA, John (Debbie) Myers, of Carlton, WA, Karen Myers Barker, of Lummi Island, WA, and Mark (Jolene) Myers, of Waukee, IA; her grandchildren: Joseph, Grace and James Smith; and her sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Larry and Regina; brother Ronnie; her in-laws Joe and Eva Park and brother in-law, David Barker.
