Born December 11th, 1926, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Albert and Karen (Lunde) Rasmussen. Lillian graduated from Le Grand High School in 1945.

Lillian was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert “Bob” C. Gummert on August 11th, 1946, at the Strand Lutheran Church in Dunbar. They made their home on the highway for ten years until moving to the family homestead. Together they raised three beautiful daughters. They were married for 68 years before Robert’s passing in 2015.

She worked for Martin-Marietta at the Ferguson location for 20 years before retiring – loving to tease her co-workers and getting it right back from them.

Lillian was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillon. She was a member of Ladies Aid and served as church organist for many years. She ministered to others through her gift of music. She also shared her gift as an organist at the Iowa Veterans Home for the Thursday service and played for weddings and funerals.

Lillian’s family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her. She always loved to tease people. Her black raspberry pies were always a hit and she enjoyed making Robert’s favorite, cherry. True to her Norwegian roots, she would partake in the traditional Lutefisk dinner. Lillian also enjoyed taking bus trips to Branson with Bob.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Elaine Crouse, of Marshalltown, Linda (Mike) Weitzell, of Le Grand and Karen Campbell, of Marshalltown; three grandchildren: Robert (Hallie) Crouse, of Gilman, Ann (Chad) Plowman, of Newton and Jenny (Chris) Jones, of Marshalltown; seven precious great grandchildren: Whitaker, Taylor, Cole, Kate, Clara, Riley and Rachel; her nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.

In death, Lillian rejoined her dear husband, Bob; her parents Albert and Karen; her siblings: in infancy, Lucille Rasmussen, Harvey Rasmussen, Nelvin Rasmussen, Arnold Rasmussen, Dr. Mildred Rasmussen and Maxine Wogen; son-in-law Don Crouse and granddaughter Robin Renee Crouse.
