Born on Christmas Day of 1948, she was the daughter of Russell and Dorris Phillips. She graduated from the Hubbard High School.

Sandra was united in marriage to two wonderful gentlemen who greeted her at heaven’s gates-John Benson who died in 1978 and James Potter who passed in 2004. She was devoted to her job at Nauman-Chase, then Nauman-Madsen, later Shomo-Madsen for many years. She dedicated her working career to the insurance profession for over 40 years right up to her passing.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Scott Potter, of Marshalltown, her five precious grandchildren: Trent, Kegan, Carson, Karlie and Kaylee; three dear great grandchildren: Ariella, Amelia and Zayden; step brother Denny (Marlene) Reece, step-sister Peggy (Steve) Heilskov and sister in law Joanne Phillips, as well as many other family and work colleagues.

In death, Sandra rejoined her husbands John Benson and James Potter; brother Gary Phillips; parents Russell and Dorris; step mother Bonnie Reece Phillips and two sons: Darrin (2017) and James (2007).
