Carla McWilliams, 72

Carla McWilliams, 72, of Marshalltown, Iowa, was called home to her Lord and Savior on the evening of January 14, 2021at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

Services for Carla will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish: St. Mary Church beginning at 10:30 a.m. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with a vigil service beginning at 7:00 p.m. For additional information or to send a condolence please visit www.mitchellfh.com or phone 641-844-1234. Carla Anne Wedgwood was born January 23, 1948 to parents Wayne and Agnes (Dankbar) Wedgwood in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the second youngest of four children blessed to the pair. Carla attended school within Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High School in the class of 1966.

She was united in marriage to David Jones and the two welcomed their daughter Barbara. The two later separated. On September 19, 1972, she was united in marriage to the love of her life David McWilliams in Rock Island Illinois. They together raised their family and had three children, Robert, Matthew, and Patrick. She loved to take care of her family. She was also known for her in home daycare and later working in the cafeteria at the Marshalltown Hospital.

Carla was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown together and she was a part of various bowling leagues in Marshalltown. In her free-time, she enjoyed fishing with her husband, bowling, working in her garden and playing card games. She was a great cook and was best know in her family for her scalloped corn and breads. She was always friendly with anyone that she met. Her favorite hobby was the time that she was able to spend with her kids and her grandkids.

Left to remember and cherish her memory are her husband David McWilliams; her children, Barb Jones, Robert McWilliams(and Jenny Turner), Matt McWilliams, and Patrick McWilliams; her grandchildren, James Harsha, Dean Oziah, Midaja Propp, Peyton Smith, Paige McWilliams and Kaiden McWilliams; her great-grandchildren Greyson and Oliver Smith; her brother David Wedgwood; her sister-in-laws, Dorothy (Keith) Sheller, Shirley (Terry) Winders and Donna (Thomas) Martin; her brother-in-law Tom (Janet) McWilliams; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Agnes Wedgwood and her sisters Linda Bennett and Margartet Grommet.
