Born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on November 26, 1950, to Darwin and Marjorie (Brindle) Vint, Jeannie grew up on a farm north of Beaman, Iowa, with siblings Steve, Jo, and Al. As a girl, Jeannie loved playing softball and swimming. She graduated from BCL High School in Conrad in 1969. Jeannie married the love of her life, George Macy, on July 18, 1970. They resided in Conrad where they raised two children, Justin and Andrea. Jeannie graduated from Marshalltown School of Nursing in 1972. She worked at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center as a Registered Nurse from 1972 until retirement in 2008. Always game for an adventure, Jeannie loved traveling with George, especially when warm sun and sandy beaches were the destination. When not relaxing with a book, toes in the sand and drink in hand, she enjoyed parasailing, sampling local cuisine, and dancing with George. At home, Jeannie spent her time cheering on the Hawkeyes and Cyclones, laughing with friends and cousins, and reading books and playing games with her beloved granddaughters. Jeannie had a sparkling personality and beauty to match. She loved any excuse to dress up and go out on the town, and any place she went was made a little more fabulous by her presence.

Jeannie is survived by her husband, George Macy; her children, Justin (Susan) Macy, and Andrea Macy (Jon Harcey); and three granddaughters, Aurora, Lorelei, and Fiona Harcey. She was preceded in death by her parents.

At Jeannie’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation in Jeannie’s name to a local food bank.
