Born Ardeena Kay Sliekers on May 4, 1945 in San Francisco, California, she was the daughter of Arden and Ethel (Erpelding) Sliekers. At age 3, the family moved back to Garwin, Iowa, where Deena would call home the remainder of her life.

After meeting the love of her life, Gary Edwards, they were united in marriage on June 2, 1962 in Toledo. She worked at Marshalltown Manufacturing for over 20 years, followed by several years at Farmers Savings Bank. Deena then went on to work for Green Mountain Garwin school district in food services, where she eventually retired.

There were two things that meant more to Deena than anything else: her family and her gardens. She adored her family and especially loved spending time with her grandkids. She was also very proud of her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. In her free time, Deena was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and quilting.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her children: Bradley (Toni) Edwards, Todd (Tony) Edwards and Stacey (Chris) Duden; grandchildren: JoAnna, Clinton, Elee, Brandon, Carl and Scott Edwards and Abbie, Levi and Kaylea Duden; three great-grandchildren; sisters: Suzie (Neil) Rowe and Patty (Randy) Dillingham and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In eternal life, Deena is reunited with her beloved husband, Gary, whom she had deeply missed since his passing. She also rejoins her parents and her sister, Rowena Anderson.
