David Scott “Cloudy” Ellis, 63

David Scott “Cloudy” Ellis, 63, of Marshalltown, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at his home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, April 12, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the National Cemetery in rural Vining. Feel free to wear any racing attire.

Dave was born on December 18, 1957, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Robert and Marvel (Clement) Ellis.

He graduated from West Marshall High School.

On April 6, 1984, he was united in marriage to Nancy Husak at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Dave worked at Lydall Sealing Solutions in Marshalltown and prior to that at K & M Manufacturing. He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and also the Knights of Columbus. Dave enjoyed being a pit crew chief for his son’s racing team and was a “jack of all trades!” He made friends wherever he went and never met a stranger. Dave had a contagious laughter and people seemed to gravitate towards him. He was very outgoing and well liked and would help anyone in need.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of Marshalltown; his son, Scott (Hallie) Ellis of Marshalltown; his daughter, Jo Timmer (Levi Ehler) of Killduff; and his son-in-law, Derek Timmer of Marshalltown; two granddaughters, Siena and Audrina Timmer; his mother, Marvel Ellis of Marshalltown; one brother, Doug Ellis of Marshalltown; two sisters, Cheryl (Hank) Miller of Beaman, and Linda (Greg) Nennig of Marshalltown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and his grandparents.
