Born Dorothy Clara Klaas on March 3, 1937 at her family farm home in Logan Township, Marshall County, she was the only daughter and one of three children born to Herman and Agnes (Guckert) Klaas. She graduated from the Melbourne High School in 1955. After graduation, she was employed at Fidelity Bank in Marshalltown.

On September 15, 1962, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, William “Bill” Stolzman at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Haverhill. They made their home at Haverhill and then north of Marshalltown before moving to their place south of Marshalltown. A loving and caring wife and mother, Dorothy dedicated her time to her family as a homemaker for many years. She later returned to the workforce and was employed for 18 years in the children’s department of JC Penney.

Dorothy had a strong faith life. She was a member of the St. Francis Parish (St. Henry’s Church), former St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society and the Prairieville Club.

Dorothy enjoyed annual family vacations to Lake Okoboji and trips to California. She loved celebrating the holidays with family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She also liked playing cards with friends, especially enjoying the New Year’s Eve get-togethers with the Goodman family.

Dorothy dearly loved her family and will be greatly missed by all of them. She and Bill were blessed with six children: Deanna (Edward) Schmidt of Baxter and their children Jamie, Marcus (Shelby) and Sydney; Marlene (Randy) Bieghler of Grimes and their children Kane, Kyle and Kayla and we remember Benjamin and Caitlyn who have passed; Gary John Stolzman who passed away in 1968 at 17 months of age we solemnly remember here; Lisa (Nathan) Apprill of West Des Moines with their children Colin, Lauren and Ethan; Marcia (Jeffrey) Vettel of Rochester, MN with children Noah and Myles; and Rod (Laura) Stolzman and children Holly and Devinny of Marshalltown; her brother Leo (Sue) Klaas of Melbourne and numerous cousins, other family and friends.

In death, Dorothy rejoined her parents, her son Gary John, grandchildren Benjamin and Caitlyn and brother John James Klaas.
