He was born to Henry W. Hagness and Laura Mason on September 10th, 1941, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Henry grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1959. Shortly after graduation he went into the Navy where he spent the next three years. After returning from the Navy, he married Patricia G. Day, and they had two daughters.

Henry worked many jobs while in his life. He worked for the City of Grand Forks, ND. JC Penney, City of Wheatland, MO, and then became self-employed as Hagness Plumbing in the Hickory County, Missouri area for over 30 years. He was a man of honesty, integrity, and hard work. When he gave you his word and a handshake, he would do whatever he needed to do to get the job done and done right.

Surviving are two daughters, Michelle Hagness Busick (Chris) of Morrison, Iowa and Lisa Hagness of Wheatland, Missouri. Two grandchildren, Laura Bean Paris (Jesse) of Morrison, Iowa and Rebekah Carson (Cory) of Ravena, New York, five great-grandchildren and a brother, Tom Hagness of Grand Forks, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Leona Simmons and Genevieve Como.
