Jeanette E. Tomlinson

Jeanette Eloise Tomlinson, 88, of Dobson, NC, formerly of Traer, IA, passed away March 1, 2021.

Jeanette was born November 18, 1932 in Kellerton, IA, the daughter of John Paul and Melba (Wood) Jones. She graduated from Lineville High School at a young age and went on to attend AIB and later Iowa State University. On May 27, 1951, Jeanette was united in marriage to John L. Tomlinson at Amity Church of rural Reinbeck, IA. She lived her entire married life on the farm northwest of Traer, IA. Jeanette was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving many years as Worthy Matron for Bona Dea Chapter. She also was honored to serve as Grand Electa in 1980. Jeanette belonged to many community organizations including the Traer Legion Auxiliary. She made many cherished friends on her journey through life. Jeanette enjoyed making beautiful crafts (including embroidery), cooking, and gardening. She also loved her family, neighbors, and church family.

Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Linda (Leo) Lohse of Gladbrook, IA and son, Paul Lester (Merrilee Freeburg) Tomlinson of Cary, NC; grandchildren, John Lohse of Traer, IA, Jody Lohse of Elkhart, IA, Christopher Tomlinson of Durham, NC, and Matthew, Tomlinson of Durham, NC; sister, Julie Zager Beenblossom of Davenport, IA, and a sister-in-law, Arlene Pippert of Dysart, IA and cherished nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John; sisters, Joyce Elaine Smith and Dr. Julaine Flannery Baker; brothers-in-law, Ervin (Marge) Tomlinson and Richard Pippert. A memorial fund has been established. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on May 28 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Hickory Hills Park Archer’s Shelter.
