David Couser, 79
David Couser, 79, of Ankeny, entered into heaven on Friday August 12, 2022; where his family imagines that his sister Myrna had gathered all the family and friends to greet him. He was under the care of Suncrest Hospice at Home surrounded by loved ones.
Memorial services for Dave will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to the family for designation at a later time. David Couser was born on November 5, 1942, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Chester and Helen (Lightfoot) Couser. Dave graduated from the last class at Zearing High School in 1960. After high school, he attended Iowa State University from 1961 until 1963. He was in the Army Reserves from 1964 until 1970. On July 21, 1965, Dave was united in marriage to Judy Beasley in Marshalltown. Dave had been employed with Old Northwest Agency as a District Manager from 1969 until 1991. After taking early retirement; in 1993 he began working for Meskwaki Casino as a Hospitality Employee and Poker Dealer until his final retirement in 2008. He enjoyed his work.
Dave was a board member for the Noon Optimist Club and the Marshalltown Girls Softball Association. He was a little league coach, Boy Scout pack leader, volunteer for the United Way and a member of the New Hope Christian Church. Dave was an avid fan of the Iowa State Fair; where the family intends to place a memorial in his name. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling America, going on Sunday drives, camping and Iowa State Cyclone sports. Above all else, Dave cherished the time he spent with his family.
Dave is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy. Children: Jeff (Barbara) Couser, of Lansing, Illinois, Jill (Chris) Christensen, of Union, and Jen (Matt) Posusta, of Ankeny. Grandchildren: Alexis (Robby) Tobias, Travis Couser, Amanda (Andrew) Boss, Sabrina (Logan) Burt, Nathan Couser, Madisyn Posusta, Morgan Posusta and Myla Posusta along with one great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by sister: Ann Letcher, of Spencer; in-laws: Pam (Gary) Kutzner and Rick (Sherry) Beasley along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, one great-great niece and his dog, Buddy.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Helen; sister, Myrna Reed; brothers-in-law, Jerry Reed and Bud Letcher; father- and mother-in-law, Wayne and Maxine Beasley and niece, Shelley Gaunt.
