Our carriers really do deliver

Today is International Newspaper Carrier Day, a day set aside to recognize the tremendous efforts of the men and women who work diligently to get the newspaper to our readers.

According to the Newspaper Association of America, hundreds of thousands of newspaper carriers deliver to 133 million print readers every week.

In Marshalltown and the surrounding area, our carriers deliver our print edition every morning, seven days a week. During inclement weather, our carriers really shine as they battle the elements – wind and rain, snow, ice and other hazards including the dark of night (those oh-so early mornings).

It’s a tough, sometimes thankless job. But we hope they know that we do indeed recognize just how critical they are in the overall delivery of news and information to our readers in our coverage area.

Without a dedicated force of carriers, our print readers would miss out on important news, sports and community information; and information about goods and services from our advertisers would be missed by thousands of potential customers.

Our carriers play a vital role in the T-R’s success and in our readers’ enjoyment of the newspaper they receive each day in their mailbox or on their front porch.

If you get the chance, please offer a “thank you” to your carrier and let him/her know that their efforts are appreciated.

Without them, we just couldn’t deliver.
