Offering our thanks at Thanksgiving

There’s a lot to be thankful for this holiday and so we asked members of the Times-Republican staff to share their blessings with our readers. Here are some of their responses:

I am thankful for: My Lord and Savior — Jesus Christ, for all the blessings of my family and for the wonderful people that I work with. Wishing Thanksgiving blessings to my family, friends and co-workers.

Kathy Beane

I am thankful for:

• A loving and forgiving spouse.

• Two lovely and talented daughters.

• A new son-in-law who strives everyday to provide the utmost care to patients in a demanding medical practice.

• The First Amendment.

• Employment. And our subscribers and advertisers who make my employment possible while inviting us into their homes daily.

• Conscientious colleagues in all T-R departments who believe “Together Everyone Achieves More.”

• The right to worship where and when I desire.

• Two loyal pets who entertain us daily.

Michael Donahey

I am beyond thankful for my amazing family and friends, coffee, and days spent with those I love most.

Thanksgiving is a time when I reflect on the many blessings I have been given. I am thankful for family, for health and for our caring and generous community. I am thankful for my job, my wonderful co-workers and for the opportunity to share the stories about our town and the area in which we live. I am also thankful for our readers and the advertisers who make it possible to tell the story of Central Iowa every day of the year.

Mike Schlesinger

I’m thankful to be married to my soulmate, Andy Heintz, the most principled man of integrity I have ever met. I’m also grateful for my parents, Julie and Larry, my in-laws, Tom and Ellie, and our friends here who work tirelessly to make Marshalltown a beacon of light for immigrants and refugees.

Sara Jordan-Heintz

I am thankful for my family and friends, and too many more blessings to mention.

Deanna Davis

I am thankful for everyone who has helped me get through this year.

This year I have a lot to be thankful for. My brother, Bob, found out he had cancer. He has come a long way since April. One of his new favorite things to do is to go to benefit breakfasts together. Spending these special moments with him is the best thing in the world.

Debbie Nichols

I am thankful for my wonderful friendships over the years. Without my friends I don’t know if I could have made it through some very difficult times in my life. They are my “rocks!!!”

Lynne Guldager

I am thankful for my family, friends, my co-workers, and absolutely our troops. We wouldn’t be here without them, so thank you for all you have done for us to be able to celebrate these days with our loved ones.

Amber Hill

Not only do I have a caring family in Florida and Iowa, I am blessed that my close friends in Marshalltown, State Center, Ottumwa and Des Moines have become my second family. My cup overflows with God’s great blessings.
