Support our police and fire departments
Realizing that it seems people are often quick to criticize the actions of the police officers, the residents of the Marshalltown Village Cooperative are showing our support of our police officers and employees by placing a blue light on each of our 50 balconies during this National Police Officers month of May.
We invite the police officers and the public to drive through our parking lot at 915 West Merle Hibbs Boulevard after dark and see our display.
After last council meeting where the site for the new proposed police and fire department has been selected, we realize there will be some that will, as always, complain that the cost is too high. Yet we ask our police officers and firefighters to put themselves in situations that could easily cost them their lives. They don’t have that option of declining because the cost to their personal safety might be too high. They do it and do it well because they are dedicated to their jobs. So when the bond issue comes up for a vote, please remember that. Yes, it will cost some money, but it won’t cost you your life. Let’s get behind them and give them a decent place to work.
