Give thanks to and support our veterans

Memorial Poppy Days is May 18-20. This annual event pays tribute to veterans. “Hearts on Fire for Veterans” is American Legion Auxiliary President Sharon Anderson’s theme. It honors veterans of all eras.

Dedicated volunteers from the Legion, Auxiliary, Sons and Riders will be distributing the poppies at Fareway, HyVee, Walmart, Legion Post Home and Iowa Veterans Home May 18-20.

When you see these dedicated workers we hope you will respond with a token of appreciation. The memorial poppies are made by veterans residing at the Iowa Veterans Home. Funds derived from the distribution are used solely for the benefit of veteran programs. Check the Marshalltown Center for a poppy window paying tribute to veterans decorated by Arlene Kremer and her grandaughter, April Hill. We appreciate the center for providing this window space.

Wearing a memorial poppy shows respect for all the men and women who have served, or are presently serving to preserve our freedom. Thank you for making a difference.
