Thank you Marshalltown

The parents, and coaches of the Brick Burners Lego League Team thank the Marshalltown community for supporting the team. We have been blessed by the encouragement, the time you’ve taken to listen to the team’s presentation, and the monetary support. It has been wonderful for our children to experience this community’s support for the Brick Burners. We are proud to be part of such a giving, and thoughtful community. It is our honor to represent Marshalltown during the competition on May 18-20

The team was invited to participate in an international tournament at Legoland in California based on our performance at the state tournament at ISU in January. Since receiving the invitation to the international tournament, the team has been busy. They have presented, and shown their robot to the Kiwanis, the Lions, the Optimists, the Rotarians, and to the city council and mayor. These groups gave us time, shared wisdom, and donated funds. As well, it was our privilege to have May 2018 designated at Brick Burner Month in Marshalltown by Mayor Greer and the City Council. Other individuals, such as Ms. Cope and State Rep. Mark Smith have taken time to visit our practices and talk with us about our project and robot design and robot run. Both have been most generous as well in donating to the team. Local businesses have donated as well. Thank-you to Emerson, Marshalltown Company, and Racom for donating to the team. Thank you to Mr. Lazere, the MHS PLTW teacher, for 3-D printing a model of our innovative solution. There have anonymous donations along the way that have surprised and delighted us. Finally, thank you to the Central Iowa Christian Home Educators for the years of sponsorship.

The team has put in some work to earn money towards the trip, too. They have served meals to the homeschool group after Friday co-op classes. They have served during tip nights at Dairy Queen, Culvers, and Pizza Ranch and we thank those businesses for their willingness to partner with the team. We delivered phone books. We raked yards for the Forbes family and Mrs. Beddow. These opportunities to work for support were valuable for our team members and important to the parents. We thank you for the them.

We live in an awesome community, and we are proud to represent you at Legoland. Thank you for all that you have done for us.
