Time for new energy with Thomas Thurston

It’s time to open the doors at the courthouse to let in fresh ideas and new energy. I think that can best be done by the voters when we elect Thomas Thurston to one of the two open seats on the Board of Supervisors.

Thomas Thurston operates his own successful landscaping business here in Marshall County. He is a graduate of Marshalltown High School and Iowa State University. His degree in Landscape Architecture from ISU inspired him to return home to open his business five years ago. Both he and his wife Kelli Thurston are building small businesses and are active community volunteers. They are part of the youthful generation seeking to serve the community with energy and creativity.

Thomas has volunteered countless hours to improve public parks and outdoor recreation. He works with the Friends of Marshall County Conservation as well as the Parks and Recreation Department of Marshalltown. His own appreciation for the renewing effects of outdoor recreation have inspired him to work to preserve and improve outdoor recreational activities for our youth and families in the county.

Thomas Thurston is deeply committed to the community of Marshall County. Thurston’s roots are deep here in Marshall County. Thomas is the son of Dr. Lloyd and Bonnie Thurston and the grandson of Dr. Earl and Patsy Keyser. His great-great grandfather was Dave Lennox, the inventor of the Lennox Furnace.

Thomas strives to do his part here in Marshall County as a volunteer and advocate for future generations. Thomas has heard from many local citizens who are frustrated with government at all levels. He listens to people and seeks ways to address their concerns.

That is why Thomas believes that it is time for the Marshall County Board of Supervisors to schedule their meetings when more of the public is able to attend. Official evening meetings need to replace the daytime meetings, when so few people can attend. Schools and towns across Marshall County meet in the evenings. Why doesn’t the Board of Supervisors?

Open the courthouse doors to a new generation of leaders and invite them in. Elect Thomas Thurston Nov. 6.
