Thank you for celebrating World Food Day

For 28 years in October around World Food Day, the Marshalltown community has banded together to help feed local residents in need. In conjunction with World Food Day, the Scouts of the Prairie Winds District conducted their annual Scouting for Food Drive, which was a great success. There are many to thank. First of all, we want to thank the residents of Marshalltown who are so supportive. They contributed food and money to help feed local residents in need. It takes many people working together. We want to thank the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of the Prairie Winds District, their leaders and parents who helped collect the food. A big thank you also to the food box volunteers who sorted the food and Elim Lutheran church that provided a place for the sorting of the non- perishable items. A special thank you for the leadership of Tom McCoy, district chairman, and Zach Tomesch, district executive, who organized the event. Thank you to Hy-Vee for serving as a collection site for food and monetary donations. Thank you to Augustine Company, Central Iowa Farm Store, Ethinngton Heating and Cooling, Hy-Vee and Times-Republican for the ad in the Times-Republican. The Emergency Food Box is so thankful for being the recipient of over 5,000 items of food.
