Adopt a Family was a success
The 2018 Adopt a Family for Christmas event for the House of Compassion was a great success. Community members and organizations of Marshalltown and surrounding communities came forward to help our community.
Last year 145 households / 569 people were adopted. This year 225 households / 902 people were adopted.
Traditionally the Adopt a Family was only offered to clients of the House of Compassion. This year because of the tornado the event was opened to victims of the tornado as well. Registration was held Oct. 31 to Nov. 3 and Nov. 19 to Nov. 21.
Many thanks to the volunteers who helped with the registering of families. An additional thanks goes out to the volunteer translators who donated time to help. A heartfelt thanks for the families, organizations, clubs and churches who opened their hearts to give a Merry Christmas to these families. The House of Compassion also wants to recognize the support we received from area media agencies to get the word out on this program. Without their help we could not have spread the word to all the surrounding communities.
