Proposed use for the UnityPoint north

Why destroy a hospital that could be a safe place to treat the mentally ill, acute patients and ones who need medication management?

Mary Greeley in Ames has an excellent hospital floor plan. I was there four times and saved. I especially found comfort in front of the big, south windows, warm and bright.

The bottom floors of UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown could be made into apartments for less acute patients who need resources specific to their condition. I was at Center Associates once waiting for an appointment when a lady came up to me and said that she didn’t have a car and walked a mile in flipflops to get there. It was close to 100 degrees that day and only to find out she had the wrong day. Mental illness will never be cured, but it can be maintained.

I have severe mental illness, but thanks to Mary Greeley and my overworked psychiatrist, Dr. Steenblock, I am stable.

My family is the reason I am here. I wish I was a millionaire, I’d build it myself.
