Please support Marshalltown trails

As written in the July 15 edition of the Times-Republican on page A3, there was an article regarding the $13.7 million general obligation bond that is to be used to fund seven projects in the city — one of which is the recreational trail replacement.

All of use who use the trail have not only seen a huge increase in the use by pedestrians, bicyclist, family groups and individuals, but also are very aware of the very poor condition of the trail itself.

The city council will hold a public hearing on July 27 to go through the projects with individual projects receiving approval at a later date. So, I am requesting all users and other supporters of the trail to email their council person, the city administrator and the mayor to share your personal observations and thoughts, and ask for their support and approval for the funding of the trail improvements.

Their names and addresses can be found at www.marshalltown-ia.gov. Select government and on the right are links to the mayor, city council and administrator. Or the addresses can be found on page A4 in the T-R in the Speak Out.

Thank you for all your support for this very worthwhile endeavor.
