Give peace — and Jesus — a chance

“Joy to the world, the Lord hath come; let earth receive her King.” Once again, Craig and I wish to reflect upon the birth of Jesus. This Christmas, we are concerned about the world we are living in. Where are our moral values, that we need to pass on to others and make this be a better world to live in?

According to the FBI, hate crimes are at a record high in our country. Who is helping us in conquering our hate towards one another? Jesus is our answer. “Joy to the world, the Lord has come, let earth receive her King.”

In 2020, we had a record number of people die because of gun violence. We have a great Savior in our world who can help us to overcome this kind of violence. “Joy to the world, the Lord has come, let earth receive her King.”

Ever since World War II, we have had one war after another war. We pray in our Lord’s Prayer, “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” “Joy to the world, the Lord has come. Let earth receive her King.”

Pope Francis, in speaking to our U. S. Congress a few years ago, said, “It laments me the blood money that we make off of war products.”

As Christians, building a Kingdom of God on this earth, let’s ask God to help us and build a culture of peace. “Joy to the world, the Lord has come, let earth receive her King.”

This Christmas, I think and pray that God will help us to be honest with one another. We cannot save our democracy if we lie to one another, and not listen to one another. The Bible can help us. God can help us. Jesus definitely can help us! Lying is not going to save us. “Joy to the world, the Lord has come. Let the earth receive her King.”

At this Christmas time, my thoughts are all about Jesus. He has shown us how to love one another. I want this kind of love in my family, in my church, in my community and in my country. Come on now, let’s make it happen. “Joy to the world the Lord has come. Let earth receive her King.”
