Over a decade ago, I donated to the Marshalltown Foundation for the Caregiver’s Statue in front of the hospital. I was informed recently the statue was being moved to the new hospital. However, they will not be moving the memorial bricks around the statue. I purchased two bricks in memory of my mother and grandmother for their years of service in health care. (In memory of Nellie Mae Johnson and Barbara M. Thomas) I did so as a permanent tribute to them. I am angered by their unwillingness to also move the memorial bricks. They pursued these donations only to turn their back now on the families who stepped up.
I want this to be known by anyone who in the future may consider donating for a personal memorial through the foundation.
