Masons are historically leveling cornerstones
Having family in Marshalltown, Iowa, I read a letter in the Times-Republican by a woman who was disgruntled by the Masonic Fraternity leveling the cornerstone for the local courthouse. It isn’t presumptuous on the Masons’ part. It is a time-honored custom. I am a fifth generation Freemason. Centuries ago, the Masons built the great cathedrals of Europe and were proud sponsors of government buildings, schools, and structures of public benefit. It is an ancient custom. Nothing more. Nothing less. Gov. Kim Reynolds isn’t equipped to lay any cornerstone. If anyone is to do it, the Freemasons have expertise under their belts at doing such things. The public should feel honored.
