The holiday season is a perfect time to pause to say thanks to residents of Marshall County for their generosity. The 22nd annual Scouting for Food was a great success. The Emergency Food Box board and volunteers wish to thank the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, leaders and parents who participated. A special thank you to Greg DeSaulniers, Tamaha district Scouting for Food coordinator, who organized the drive and secured publicity for the event. We also want to thank Steve Robinson for assisting Greg.
This year once again, Scouts from packs and troops in Albion, Green Mountain, Marshalltown, LeGrand and State Center collected more than 7,500 food items. Units that participated were Packs 308, 311, 312, 317, 319, 324, 329, and 394 and Troops 308, 311, 312, 317, 324, 329, and 1846. Pack 312 sponsored by the Salvation Army donated the items they collected to the Salvation Army. Troop and Pack 311 of State Center collected 908 items which were delivered to the State Center Food Pantry.
On behalf of those who benefit from these contributions we want to thank all of the residents from Albion, Marshalltown, Rhodes, Clemens, St. Anthony, LaMoille, Laurel, Le Grand, Green Mountain, Ferguson, Van Cleve, Haverhill, Liscomb and Gilman who took time to purchase food and place it on their front porches for pickup by the Scouts. Your generosity is really appreciated.
We would like to thank radio station KFJB, KDAO and KCRM-LP, the Penny Saver and Times-Republican for all of the publicity they gave to this project. Also thank you to the T-R ad sponsors the Augustine Company, Central Iowa Farm Store, Ethington Heating & Cooling, Hy-Vee, Iowa Lumber, Ken Wise Auto Group, Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, Southard Implement Company, Times-Republican and Wal-Mart.
