MAT to host ‘Holiday Hoorah’ meet this weekend

December 4, 2012

MAT Gymnastics & Tumbling/Trampoline will be hosting an USTA/AAU sanctioned Power tumbling & trampoline meet.

"MAT Tumbling & Trampoline welcomes you to a Holiday Hoorah" will have more than 400 events on Saturday's Trampoline & Double-Mini meet and nearly 500 athletes will be competing in Sunday's Power Tumbling invitational. This event will be held beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Marshalltown Community College.

These power tumblers & trampolinists come from all across the state, and include over eighty from the MAT Tumbling & Trampoline team. This will be only the second meet of the season for the MAT tumbling and trampoline team. The MAT Tumbling/Trampoline club tends to attract a large number of participants for several reasons.

One of the main reasons is that MAT has been hosting very well organized meets for over sixteen years and has an outstanding reputation at both the state and national level. The MAT club has great support from its numerous MAT families, friends and athletes, all of whom work very hard to make our events very well organized and the best in the state of Iowa.

Power Tumbling & Olympic Trampoline is continuing to grow in popularity. Tumblers range from ages 2-20, and include many different levels of difficulty from beginner to elite. Tumbling & Trampoline is an individualized sport; every boy or girl of any size, shape and ability can tumble or bounce. However tumbling/trampoline can also be a team sport.

Sportsmanship, positive self-esteem and strong friendships are some of the great ingredients to make a team complete. Each student participating receives a trophy and/or medal regardless of place, this way each student is rewarded for his/her effort. All Trampoline and Double- Mini competition is performed on either a 7'x 14' Olympic Euro trampoline and/or Double-Mini trampoline. The multiple flipping and twisting of the athletes up to 25'-30' in the air will be amazing to watch.

All power tumbling competition "routines" are completed on either panel mats, or on an elevated rod floor. Every move from a simple forward roll to double backs flips will be seen at Sunday's meet. As a spectator this meet will be very entertaining to watch. The MAT club invites the community to come out to the Marshalltown Community College and see what power tumbling and Olympic Trampoline is all about.
