Marlys (Mrs. Carl) Jones, 70, of Marshalltown, died Thursday morning, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Iowa River Hospice Home with her loving family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012. Born Marlys Funke on Aug. 5, 1942, in State Center, she was the daughter and one of three children born to Donald and Gladys (Hilleman) Funke. She graduated from the Melbourne High School's Class of 1960. On Feb. 27, 1965, she was united in marriage to Carl Jones at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in State Center. They made their home in Milwaukee, Toledo, Marshalltown, Nevada and back to Marshalltown on New Year's Eve of 1975. Marlys was employed at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center for over 20 years, beginning as switchboard operator at night and retiring from the Human Resources department. She enjoyed bowling in years past, piano, boating at the lake and most of all treasured her family.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Carl; her children: Steve (Lori) Jones, of Marshalltown, Brian (Lisa) Jones, of Marshalltown, Jennifer (Jerry) Moffitt, of Elkhart; her grandchildren: Stephanie Jones, Jessica Moffitt, Dale Jones, Miranda Thompson, James Boone and Hunter Moffitt; her sister, Donita (Rick) Crawford, of State Center, other family members and many friends.
In death, Marlys rejoined her parents and her brother David.
