Marshalltown Police Department

Incidents

On Wednesday, Ted Leigh Thompson, 106 S. 1st St. Apt. #4, reported the theft of a Sterling silver set, a man's diamond wedding band, a woman's diamond wedding ring, a Ryobi drill set, cash, two one-ounce gold bars and a Sentry safe from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $7,710.

On Wednesday, Ethan Haughey, 204 Helm St., reported the theft of men's clothing, frozen food, a 2002 Ford Taurus, a wireless router, two green couch cushions, an area rug and a 42 inch Dynex flatscreen TV from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $5,000.

Arrests

On Wednesday, Keith Alan Ray, of Boone, was arrested for driving while barred-habitual offender.

On Wednesday, Heather Lynn Bell, 510 N. 15th Ave., was arrested for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

On Tuesday, Robert Douglas Rettig, 8 W. Grant St., was arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating while intoxicated-first offense.

Accidents

On Wednesday, a vehicle driven by Rosa M. Parra, 215 E. South St., was exiting her driveway when a collision occurred with a minivan driven by Travis John Corwin, 503 Lee St., which was eastbound on South Street and slid on the ice when attempting to stop. No injuries were reported. Parra was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,500 each.

On Monday, a pickup driven by Joseph William Leonard, 1305 Fairway Dr., was southbound on South Second Street attempting to make a right turn onto West High Street when it slid on the icy street and collided with a car driven by Brooke Joanne Brady, 2814 190th St., which was stopped at the stop sign facing east. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Brady car was estimated at $2,000 while the Leonard pickup received an estimated $900 in damage.

On Monday, a vehicle driven by Branden Michael Collins, 407 N. 13th Ave., was southbound on North Seventh Street at the intersection with West State Street when, due to being distracted by his dog, the driver proceeded forward into the intersection and collided with a minivan driven by Donald Eugene Vokoun, of State Center, which was traveling east on State Street. No injuries were reported. Collins was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to the Collins vehicle was estimated at $600 while the Vokoun minivan received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

On Sunday, a car driven by Steven Craig Needs, 1601 Marion St. Apt. K-1, was westbound on East Anson Street at the intersection with South Third Avenue when the icy conditions contributed to it sliding into the back of a vehicle driven by Maricela Sanchez-Ramirez, 310 NewCastle Rd., No injuries were reported. Damage to the Needs car was estimated at $2,000 while the Sanchez-Ramirez vehicle received an estimated $400 in damage.

On Saturday, a car driven by Ralph F. Allen, 1500 Lincoln Tower Circle, was eastbound on West Madison Street when it slid into the rear of a pickup driven by Randy Steven Brindle, 403 May St., due to the icy road conditions. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Allen car was estimated at $1,800 while the Brindle pickup received an estimated $500 in damage.

On Saturday, a car driven by Isaiah Levi Fogle, 3202 S. 12th St. Lot #134, was southbound in the 800 block of South Center Street when it hit a patch of ice and slid into a utility pole. No injuries were reported. Fogle was cited for striking fixtures and failure to have a valid driver's license. Damage to the Fogle car was estimated at $5,000 while the utility pole received an estimated $100 in damage.

On Saturday, a minivan driven by Wava Jean Arney, of Laurel, was southbound on South Center Street when because of icy road conditions it failed to stop at the intersection with Westwood Drive and collided with a car driven by Carol Lynn Crawford, 404 Wauconda Rd., which was in the intersection. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Arney minivan was estimated at $1,500 while the Crawford car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Pamela W. Reedy, of East Moline, Ill., was westbound on Iowa Avenue when a red car ran a red light at the intersection with South Center Street and the Reedy vehicle collided with the rear of the red car as it continued south through the intersection and left the scene. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Reedy vehicle was estimated at $1,545.

On Saturday, a pickup driven by Adam Nicholas Baedke, 523 N. 1st St., was traveling northbound in the 300 block of North First Street when it came upon a woman, Paula J. Hernandez, of Tama, dressed in dark clothing walking in the middle of the street toward him. Baedke pushed on the brakes, but due to the icy road conditions the pickup slid and struck the woman at approximately two miles per hour. Hernandez was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Following the officer's initial report, follow-up report at the hospital and Hernandez's release from the hospital, she was arrested for public intoxication.

On Dec. 21, a semi driven by Wesley Sandin David, of Franklin, Minn., was southbound on South Third Avenue at the intersection with East Church Street when it entered the intersection on a red light as a result of the icy road conditions and collided with a car driven by Jesus Ventura Carrasco, 407 N. 11th Ave., which was traveling through the intersection on a green light. No injuries were reported. David was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device and Ventura Carrasco was cited for no driver's license. Damage to the David semi was estimated at $5,000 while the Ventura Carrasco vehicle received an estimated $2,500 in damage.

On Dec. 21, a pickup driven by Shawn Michael Stewart, 2206 Dubois Circle, was southbound on South Third Avenue near O'Reilly Auto Parts when it collided with the rear of a pickup driven by Jaamie Jalene Baer, of Albion, sending it into the rear of a minivan driven by Azenet Krukow, 209 Marion St., sending it into the rear of another minivan driven by Antonio Maravilla-Reynoso, 708 NewCastle Rd., which was stopped waiting for traffic to clear. Baer and passenger Mia Krukow, 209 Marion St., were both transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries. Stewart was cited for following too closely. Damage to the Stewart pickup was estimated at $5,000 while the Baer pickup received an estimated $4,000 in damage, the Krukow minivan an estimated $4,000 in damage and the Maravilla-Reynoso minivan an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Dec. 21, a pickup driven by Timothy Michael Weber, 412 N. 15th Ave., was southbound on South Center Street at the intersection with West Anson Street when it collided with a car driven by Angel Marie Blackford, 612 N. 2nd Ave., which was traveling west on Anson Street. It was determined that the accident was aided by traffic lights being covered with snow. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Weber pickup was estimated at $2,000 while the Blackford car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

Dec. 20

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire call at 711 N. 3rd Ave., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 303 E. Southridge Rd., 610 E. Linn St., 1211 W. State St., 707 E. Boone St., and 109 N. 3rd St.

Dec. 21

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two fire calls to 1007 E. Anson St., and 111 N. 3rd Ave., and nine medical assists with the EMS crew to: 405 E. South St., 1702 S. 7th Ave., 710 S. 3rd Ave., 208 1/2 N. 3rd Ave., 324 Harrison Dr., 921 N. 3rd Ave., 3202 S. 12th St., and 2013 Skyline Dr.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two rescue calls on North First Street and 122 W. Main St., four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 203 W. South St., 1211 W. State St., 1610 Fremont St., and 617 W. Main St.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two fire calls to 134 E. Main St., and 805 N. 5th Ave., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1301 Summit St., 206 Nicholas Dr., 1702 S. 7th Ave., and 210 N. 8th Ave.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire call at 307 Swayze St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 103 W. Church St., 817 N. 5th Ave., 307 N. 7th St., 312 W. High St., and 510 Richard Lane.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire call at 2510 S. 6th St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 501 N. 13th Ave., 1107 Prairie Lane, 1408 S. 1st St., 1605 Clinton St., 1604 W. Church St., and 512 N. 2nd Ave.
