Incidents

On Saturday, Karen Jazmin Sosa, 1008 S. 11th Ave., reported hit and run damage to the driver's side rear quarter panel on a 2010 Nissan Altima while parked at 1301 Summit St., Estimated value of damage was $2,500.

On Saturday, Lisa Leann Stabenow, 608 S. 9th St., reported the theft of a Schwinn Stingray bicycle from 810 Jerome St. Estimated value of loss was $170.

On Saturday, Dec. 29, Lynn Marion Willson, of Eldora, reported the theft of a Phillips portable DVD player, an overnight bag, two Kodak digital cameras, two checkbooks, a Zen MP3 player and a .22 caliber revolver from 915 Turner St. Estimated value of loss was $445.

On Friday, Maria Guido-DeLopez, 806 E. Church St., reported the theft of cash in the amount of $1,500 from 608 E. Church St.

On Friday, a person associated with Purple Cherry, 6 Iowa Ave. East, reported damage to 16 gas meters at the business. Estimated value of damage was $250.

On Friday, Trista Gohring, 406 Plaza Heights Rd. Apt. #1, reported the theft of cash in the amount of $100 from her residence.

On Thursday, an employee with Git 'N Go, 902 Lincolnway, reported the theft of two cartons of Newport cigarettes. Estimated value of loss was $120.

On Wednesday, Jacob Levi Lehman, 515 E. Olive St. Apt. #5, reported the theft of a wallet and a woman's gold and diamond ring from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $1,550.

Arrests

On Sunday, Gasimgam Gut, 303 S. 1st St. Apt. #4, was arrested for driving while revoked.

On Sunday, Kerry Brandon Logan, 1401 S. 17th Ave., was arrested for interference with official acts.

On Sunday, Walker David Gray, of State Center, was arrested for theft-fifth degree.

On Saturday, Marc Anthony Dolan, 410 E. State St. Apt. #3, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-first offense.

On Saturday, Ismael Lopez-Lara, 1106 May St., was arrested.

On Saturday, Melvin Martin Jr., 405 E. Boone St. Apt. #1, was arrested for serious domestic assault-enhanced, criminal mischief, obstruction of emergency communication, violation of a no-contact order and interference with official acts.

On Friday, Nathan Bruce Mielke, of Toledo, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, interference with official acts and possession of marijuana.

On Friday, Ryan Randy Mielke, of Waterloo, was arrested for public intoxication and interference with official acts.

On Friday, Richard Steven Copeland, 206 Nicholas Dr. Apt. #7, was arrested for theft-fifth degree, theft-fourth degree and removal of detection device.

On Friday, Hector Lizarde-Garcia, 1009 W. Boone St., was arrested for driving under the influence.

Accidents

On Sunday, a car driven by Shawn Michael Babberl, 107 N. 2nd St. (Rear), was northbound in the 10 block of Second Street when the car's defroster malfunctioned and while working on that the driver hit the windshield washer button causing bad visibility and the driver turned into a parking lot to fix the problems and collided with an illegally parked pickup. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Babberl car was estimated at $200 while the illegally parked pickup received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Sunday, a pickup driven by Edwin Carlton Hofert, 714 W. Madison St., was pulling into Casey's General Store on West Lincoln Way when it collided with a car driven by Jamison Allyn Wyatt, of Montour, which was backing away from the pumps. No injuries were reported. Hofert was cited for driving while license is suspended, cancelled, denied or revoked, violation of financial liability-accident and operation without registration. Damage to the Hofert pikcup was estimated at $500 while the Wyatt car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

On Saturday, an unknown vehicle driving through the Iowa Veterans Home parking lot struck a legally parked car. No injuries were reported. Damage to the legally parked car was estimated at $2,500.

On Friday, a vehicle driven by Samantha Jean Heckel, of Gilman, was southbound on South Center Street when it entered the intersection with Southridge Road on a red light and collided with a car driven by Shelby Ann Feld, 2610 S. 8th St., sending both of them into the front of a vehicle driven by Debra Jean Sawtelle, 1016 S. 11th Ave., which was waiting to turn north. Feld was possibly injured, but not transported or treated at the scene. Heckel was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to the Heckel and Feld vehicles was estimated at $3,000 each while the Sawtell vehicle received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Monday

Gasimgam Gut, 303 S. 1st St. Apt. #4, made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1p.m. on Jan. 18. Gut was released on his own recognizance.

James Dobuol KIr, address unknown, made an initial appearance on two arrest warrants for probation violation on a public intoxication case and a theft-third degree case. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The probation revocation hearing for both cases is set for 10 a.m. on Jan. 11. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety for each charge.

Howard McKinney, of Sikeston, Mo., made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. The court appointed Brandon Ruopp to represent him in this case. The contempt hearing is set in Magistrate Court for 9 a.m. on Jan. 15 to coincide with a contempt hearing for failure to complete the batterer's education course. Bond on the violation of no-contact order charge was $1,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that if McKinney possessed an firearms or ammunition he is to make arrangements with the Marshall County Sheriff to surrender them within 24 hours. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Walker Gray, of State Center, made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge, a possession of alcohol under the legal age charge, a theft-fifth degree charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 18. Gray was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Kerry Brandon Logan, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a interference with official acts charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Jan. 22 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $300 cash only.

Matthew Michael Blink, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a aggravated domestic abuse assault charge, a harassment-first degree charge, a violation of a non-contact order charge and a violation of order to be fingerprinted and photographed charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing for the aggravated domestic abuse assault charge and the harassment charge is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 10. Jeff Hazen was previously appointed on the contempt charge in the fingerprint and photograph case and will handle the violation of no-contact order charge as well. The contempt hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 14. Bond in both cases is $5,000 cash only for a total of $10,000 cash. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Troy Vincent Corwin, 10 1/2 W. Grant St., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, a driving while barred charge and a failure of caution by driver of emergency vehicle charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 18. Corwin was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.
