Don and Roberta Cochran, of Des Moines, are the proud parents of a daughter, Elle Katherine, born Dec. 20, 2012 weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces. Elle joins older brothers Austin and Aidan and sister Mariah. Grandparents are John and Linda Hargis, of Des Moines, and Lois and Charlie Cochran, of Marshalltown.

Daniel and Emily Oshel, of Fremont, Neb., formerly of Marshalltown, welcomed their new little girl, Keeley Noelle Oshel on Dec. 12 at 10:55 a.m. at the Methodist Women's Hospital in Omaha, Neb., weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces and measuring 19.75 inches in length. Keeley joins her spunky older sister, Aurora Cailyn. Grandparents are Frank and Mary Oshel, of Fremont, Neb., as well as Jim and Mary-Jo Marshall, of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. Great-grandparents are Jean Wilson, of Omaha, Neb.; Tony and Theresa Kuntz, of Fremont, Neb.; and George and Virginia Marshall, of Temecula, Calif.

Max Thomasson, 307 N. 2nd St., made an initial appearance on a towing an unsafe vehicle charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 13 in Magistrate Court. He will represent himself before the court in this case. Thomasson was released on his own recognizance.

Ronald Edward Draper, 2102 S. 3rd Ave., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge, a driving while revoked charge, a open container charge, a no insurance charge, a improper use of registration charge and a improper use of lanes charge. Eric Burns, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge and a warrant pertaining to an unrelated possession of a controlled substance case. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his new possession of marijuana case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 5. Burns was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he be photographed and fingerprinted on this new charge. It further ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date. On the warrant pertaining to the possession of a controlled substance case a pre-trial conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 8.

Van Thawng, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Feb. 15 until the debt is paid or in lieu of the fine and surcharge he may do 12 hours of community service plus pay the court costs to be completed by May 31.

Cody Michael Rhodes, of Whitten, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no insurance charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driving under suspension charge the fine was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the no insurance charge was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $402.50. The court allowed for monthly installments of $50 on both charges beginning Feb. 15 until the debt is paid.

Vilaphanh Cede Nevan, 1321 Prairie Ave., made an initial appearance on two counts of a contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. She pleaded guilty to all charges. The court deferred judgment in these cases and placed her on unsupervised probation for one year with the following conditions: pay the $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and court costs of $60 for all three cases for a total of $305 and obey all laws. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Feb. 15 until the debt is paid. At the end of one year, if Nevan has met all the conditions and sends a letter to the court stating that she has met the conditions then these charges will be erased from her record.

Alex Treft, of Marshalltown, made an initial appearance on a violation of pre-trial release charge. He has a pre-trial conference at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 and a trial set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 21. The posted bond will continue until the conclusion of the case.

Stephanie R. Sparrow, 703 S. 12th Ave. Apt. #6, made an initial appearance on an application for probation revocation. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on March 1. Probation will continue until the hearing with all the regulations associated with it enforced.

Matt Schaeffer, 510 Thomas Dr., made an initial appearance on a attempting to obtain a prescription drug by altering a doctor's prescription charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 6. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of the case.

The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 6. Brown was released on her own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Rochelle Marie Smitherman, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a failure to appear or file a written arraignment charge. Darrell Meyer, previously appointed, will continue representation. The arraignment hearing is rescheduled for 1 p.m. on Jan. 29. Bond will continue until the conclusion of the case.

Howard Devall McKinney, of Sikeston, Mo., made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The contempt hearing is set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 1 in Magistrate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only. The court ordered that if McKinney possessed any firearms or ammunition he is to make arrangements with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office to surrender those items within 24 hours. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Ana Martinez, 1702 S. 7th Ave. Apt. #12, made an initial appearance on two counts of a child endangerment charge, a possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 6. Martinez was released with supervision and is to contact the adult probation through the Department of Correctional Services and sign a pre-trial release form today. The court ordered that she obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within the next 60 days.

Chandra Janelle Fleming, 812 E. State St., made an initial appearance on a warrant for failure to make her initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $87 in court costs for a total of $424.50. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Feb. 15 until the debt is paid.

Linn St., and 1301 Summit St., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 101 NewCastle Rd., 3001 S. 6th St., 11 W. Ingledue St., 712 E. Anson St., 105 N. 10th Ave., 600 E. South St., and 509 S. 4th St.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a rescue at 8 E. Southridge Rd., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 2922 195th St., 711 E. Linn St., 1301 Summit St., 912 S. 10th Ave., and 305 Fremont St.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to 10 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1211 W. State St., 208 S. 8th Ave., 310 N. 2nd St., 810 W. Main St., 401 N. 16th St., 603 E. Main St., 918 S. 11th Ave., 709 NewCastle Rd., 208 W. State St., and 610 Westwood Dr.

Wednesday
