TRAER - Jacob Wrage had team-highs of 21 points, eight steals and five assists to lead the Class 1A No. 10 North Tama boys' basketball team to its seventh consecutive win, a 72-27 romp against Waterloo Christian Friday in Iowa Star Conference play.
Paul Kaufmann charted 12 points, Dalton Hulme had nine and Nolan Hefty eight for the Redhawks (17-1, 14-0), who led 31-8 after the first quarter.
Matt Gillen scored eight points to pace Waterloo Christian (3-14, 3-12).
North Tama plays at Gladbrook-Reinbeck today in a non-conference clash before hosting No. 9 Dunkerton Monday in a showdown to determine the Iowa Star Conference championship.
GMG 53, Colo-NESCO 46
COLO - Three players scored in double figures and GMG held off Colo-NESCO's late advances to pull away with a 53-46 Iowa Star Conference win.
Brock Fisher had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead GMG (9-7, 8-5), while Luke Petty had 11 points and six boards, and Blake Warren had 10 points and seven boards.
Austin Vaughn and Bridger Claussen both chipped in seven points for the Wolverines, who won for the fifth time in their last six outings.
Brandyn Niemeyer scored 13 points to lead Colo-NESCO (12-8, 10-5), which won the first meeting 63-57 in Garwin. J.T. Adams added seven points, and Adam Lytle and Jake Webb both contributed six points for the Royals.
Both teams are on the road Tuesday in Iowa Star action, with GMG visiting North Tama and Colo-NESCO going to Meskwaki.
East Marshall 73, South Hardin 55
LE GRAND - Five players scored in double digits for East Marshall, and the Mustangs stopped a five-game slide with a 73-55 NICL West Division win over South Hardin.
Walker Steward led East Marshall (3-12, 3-9) with 17 points, Mitch Berry and Josh Wilson both had 13, and Ben Terrones and Zack Johnson each scored 12. Wilson led with seven rebounds, while Nate DeBondt added the final six points for the Mustangs, who led by 10 at the half and pulled away.
Bryce Zeisneiss scored 16 points to lead South Hardin (5-11, 3-9), but the Tigers sustained their seventh straight loss. Sam Shindelar added 12 points and Eric Mulder had nine.
South Hardin goes to South Hamilton today, while East Marshall returns to conference action Tuesday at BCLUW.
