Cris had been united in marriage to Jeff Overton and to this union two sons were born- Jamey and Jordon. She later married Roger Freiboth on August 1, 2008, in Marshalltown and they shared those wonderful, but short, years of marriage at their home north of Dillon. To their union, Roger brought his daughter Teri (Brad) Starn and their boys Landon and Porter and son Tim Freiboth to be a part of one big family.

Cris was passionate about helping those with special needs and challenges. She was employed at CIRSI, Meskwaki Casino, Maximus (later Young Williams) Mid-Iowa Workshops, Progress Industries and Lutheran Services. She enjoyed playing in pepper tournaments and treasured her family.

Left to cherish her memory are Roger, her loving husband, her sons: Jamey (fiance Jessica) of Des Moines and daughter Faith; Jordon (Rachelle) of Maxwell and daughter Veda; her siblings- Terry Cunningham, Sharon (Harold) Foulk, Casey Cunningham, Guy (Trish) Cunningham, Todd Cunningham, Julie (Mike) Ellis and Jay (Beth) Cunningham, as well as many nieces and nephews including Jillissa and Jenna Foulk who so closely loved her in life and cared for her on this last journey. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Dorothy Freiboth of Dillon.

In death, she rejoined her parents and grandparents.
