DES MOINES - Both the men's and women's course records fell Tuesday night as the Drake Relays got kick started with the annual Grand Blue Mile in downtown Des Moines.

Kate Grace and Garrett Heath both set new marks in winning the 1-mile road race.

Grace finished in 4 minutes, 43.02 seconds to win, edging out Sara Hall (4:43.61) and Heather Kampf (4:43.69) by less than a second in the process.

Heath hit the line in 4:02.79 and was just .12 seconds faster than runner-up Jeff See, who also finished under the previous record with a time of 4:02.91.

Grace and Heath each earned $5,000 for winning and another $2,500 for setting new course records.
