Born on March 15, 1943, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Charles and Rose (Lacey) DeGrado. He received his education in Marshalltown. Always having a love of mechanical things, he was a born restorer of motorcycles and cars. Most recently he was owner and operator of Iowa Body Supply a wholesaler to professionals. Since his garage was too dirty, he kept his Harley in the dining room much to Carol's dismay. He previously was owner of a body shop and a chopper shop on the 3rd Avenue levy. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles and cars, carpentry (he built both of his houses and business place), and treasured his family and friends.
Left to celebrate his life are Carol (Gruver) whom he married on September 17, 1973, at the Bethel Grove Church, two daughters- Michelle (John) Fricke and Valerie (Chad) Jones all of State Center, five grandchildren- Emily (Tony) Ruggiero of Cedar Rapids, Sherri Elliott and her children Karson and Kyra of Marshalltown, SN Alexander DeGrado of the US Navy, South Carolina, Gabe Jones and Halle Jones both at home, his brother Jim DeGrado of Marshalltown, several half-siblings including Jerry Panique of Phoenix as well as the Gruver family and many friends.
In death, he rejoined his parents and uncle Joe (Viva) DeGrado.
